{"title":"Carolingia","description":"\u003cp\u003eCAROLINGIA is the professional, liturgical ensemble of the Gregorian Chant Academy, directed by its founder, Christopher Jasper, and specializes in Gregorian Chant and early polyphony.The name refers to the Carolingian dynasty - the era of Charlemagne - when the Roman and Gallican chant traditions first merged to produce what we now call Gregorian Chant, when musical notation and chant harmony (organum) were first written down, and when the intellectual and artistic culture of the West was rebuilt after centuries of fragmentation. That era was truly the first Christian Renaissance in the West. Our mission is to do the same today:To serve as an aural model of excellence in sacred musicTo help form musicians, present and future, to serve the Church through sacred music with skill and genuine faith.Thereby, God may be glorified, the faithful sanctified and the beauty of sacred music may make of this earth a foretaste of heaven.The ensemble was first conceived in January of 2022 and formally established in January of 2026. The singers for this album were carefully chosen for the quality of their Faith and the character of their voices in ensemble - men and women with whom Christopher sings regularly, whose voices he knows blend with his own, and whose professionalism and Catholic Faith he knows firsthand.
