Rick Hammarstrom

I’m Rick. I write music that comes from my heart: about my faith; about my life experiences. Some of my music is just for fun-music that makes me happy—I love a good groove! A couple of my pieces have received some recognition, which has been an honor. I do both vocal music and instrumental music. I am a saxophone/woodwind player who also plays keyboard and a little bit of a lot of other instruments! I have started singing more in recent years. I love so many styles of music: Jazz, Soul/Funk, Musicals, Classical, Concert Bands, and music of Faith. I have been composing since I was a teenager in Hayward, CA in the 70’s.I recently (2025) retired after teaching music and directing school bands for 40 years, so I now have the time to work on my own music. While I have been making and teaching music for many years, “This Blessed Life” is my first solo album. I am blessed with a wonderful family, faith in God, and a lifetime of experiences that I use as inspiration to make music that I hope will touch and uplift people.

These are songs from my heart: Original songs of faith, songs based on life experiences, and a couple of arrangements (a hymn and an Advent song).
