Lee Hunter & The Gatherers - The Ground Beneath My Feet (CD)

Lee and The Gatherers released her ninth CD recording in May 2025- Lee Hunter and the Gatherers, "The Ground Beneath My Feet". There are 13 songs, some original, some traditional and a few covers, all expressing the music that has influenced her all of her life. There are lots of special guests, too: Lis Williamson, Lon Williamson, John Mailander, Joe Craven, Verlon Thompson, Del Suggs, Dave Murphy, Peter Rowan, Tommy Bledsoe, Gabe Valla, Byron House and Jim Lauderdale.

About the Artist:

When Lee Hunter and Joey Kerr joined forces as a duo in 2014, they had more than just a love for Americana music in common. Each of them had collaborated with the same musicians over many years….in other words, they essentially had been playing with the same band. It only made sense to bring everyone together and form what they are now calling, “Lee Hunter & the Gatherers”.  

In a live performance, this group of friends plays everything from folk to country to R & B, from The Band to Led Zeppelin and lots in between. Of course, they play many of both Lee and Joey’s original songs, but most of the members also write songs and sing up a storm. What you get is a mix of styles that manage to compliment each other-a nice little synergistic package. This is a group of people who respect each other and genuinely enjoy making music together.

The band members are: Joey Kerr on vocals, guitars and mandolin. Joey is a fine guitarist and an award winning songwriter. Darren Ronan on drums, percussion and vocals. Darren is also a talented singer, songwriter and music teacher who founded the Ronan School of Music in Jacksonville. Ernie Ealum on bass and vocals. Ernie is in demand as a bass player, playing everything from rockabilly to jazz. He also teaches private lessons. Walter Mingledorf on keyboards and vocals. Walter is also an excellent songwriter and has a strong, earthy voice and a great sensibility for all kinds of music. Lee Hunter on vocals, rhythm guitar, mandolin and percussion. Lee is a singer and award winning songwriter who toured for more than 20 years with the duo, Tammerlin.
