{"product_id":"teilz-come-to-mommy-opaque-red-vinyl","title":"TEILZ - come to mommy (opaque red) (Vinyl)","description":"Teilz's debut album, come to mommy, draws from the disco-pop lineage of Blondie, Madonna, and Lizzy Mercier Descloux while evoking the ‘00s club banger productions of Soulwax, CSS, and the DFA. \r\n\r\nIn the studio with longtime friends Nick Sylvester (The Dare, Channel Tres, Yaeji) and Jorge Elbrecht (Japanese Breakfast, Wild Nothing, Sky Ferreira), the songs poured out of her, as she channeled her deep knowledge of club culture into playful, sensual, unabashedly pleasurable music.\r\n\r\nThough a close listen reveals coy layers of metaphor, memoir, and personal politics, everyone will dance to come to mommy. \r\n\r\nIts singles are a testament to that: \r\n“17” layers a funk- and post-punk-driven groove under Teilz’s taunting vocals, flipping the power dynamic on showbiz predators with humor and swagger. \r\n\r\nOn “pretty please,” she’s disaffected and dominant, riding a rocksteady-indebted beat that nods to the Compass Point sessions of Grace Jones and Talking Heads. \r\n\r\n“tiger” is a slow prowl for love— a darkly sensual dream-pop revelry about relishing the moment, letting go, and following the spark of desire.\r\n\r\n“double” is a fizzy, futuristic club anthem where love runs hot and cold. “New York’s my daddy, LA’s my mother,” she beams, then exclaims: “Let's have a baby \/ Make it a double.” The song dares to escalate a partnership careening between crisis and magnetic attraction. The line is also a mischievous wink toward her twins. “Love can be a form of madness,\" she says.\r\n\r\nThe album’s title turns a familiar trope inside out. “It’s always ‘Come to Daddy,’ but this is me taking into consideration what mommy wants,” Teilz explains. That tension— between pleasure and pain, humor and seriousness, fantasy and autobiography— is central to come to mommy. \r\n\r\nTeilz doesn't separate these parts of herself neatly. The DJ, producer, mother, feminist, romantic, and pop star all exist in unison.\r\n\r\nMore than anything, come to mommy is about self-discovery and reinvention. “I feel like I’ve given birth to myself again,” Teilz says. It feels fitting, then, that she’s releasing the album on her own label, Love Streams. \r\n\r\nAfter years spent connecting other artists to audiences, Teilz is finally stepping into the spotlight on her own terms. She’s always known how to move a room. Now she’s giving us a reason to follow her somewhere new.\r\n\r\n","brand":"Love Streams","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53895488667941,"sku":"0634240512780","price":33.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0758\/1250\/3845\/files\/Teilz-Vinyl-Product-Display-NK-V2-1.jpg?v=1790267491","url":"https:\/\/store.spinneymedia.com\/products\/teilz-come-to-mommy-opaque-red-vinyl","provider":"Spinney Media","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
