Distant Morning - Once Lost (CD)

Distant Morning’s debut album ‘Once Lost’ offers ten original compositions, with deeply compelling stories, sounds, melodies and moments, all scattered throughout a gripping atmospheric dose of performative and artistic escapism.

A boldly recognizable sound in both its archaic storytelling and the intriguing charm of their leading voice, Distant Morning’s vocals employ a mezzo-soprano tone, which meanders from softness and melody to the impassioned growls of metal. The band’s soundscapes adhere to the same juxtaposed method of consuming the listener in a complex, cinematic metal-infused world of uncertainty and power.

With piano-driven melodies, atmospheric pads, solo strings and even stripped-back moments of near silence, the immense weight of the distorted and passionate drops hit with unrivaled impact, thanks to Distant Morning’s purposeful focus on detail and the evocative intention exercised throughout their music.

Delivering an eclectic and epic journey, ‘Once Lost’ begins with Chinese motifs, melancholic string sections, and evolves through keys-led progressions and poetic, often abstract, enthralling narratives, and promises standout tracks such as the dark, piano-driven 'Fallen' and ‘Silence’, where melodic death metal and lounge jazz are creatively intertwined.
