Floodfall - The Rent That We All Pay (CD)

Floodfall is a Portland, Oregon based hard rock/metal project built around the long-running creative partnership of David Hearst and Jake Schreuder, strengthened by Zane Hearst on drums and the band’s ongoing recording relationship with producer and engineer Jakob Herrmann at Top Floor Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden. Since its first album, Floodfall has treated the studio as more than a place to capture songs. The band’s connection with Herrmann and Top Floor Studios has become a defining part of its sound: heavy, atmospheric, deliberate, and shaped by the collision of American songwriting and Swedish production precision. While the band’s early years included lineup changes and geographic shifts, Floodfall has since settled into its clearest form, anchored by David, Zane, Jakob, and the return of founding guitarist Jake Schreuder in 2025. The band’s third album, The Rent That We All Pay, marks the most focused version of Floodfall to date. Recorded in Gothenburg with David and Zane present for the full process, the album reflects a band less interested in revisiting its origin story than in defining what it has become: heavier, sharper, and fully committed to the sound it has been chasing since the beginning.
