Kurt Ribak - PAST PRESENT FUTURE (CD)

Rather than the sambas and bossa novas often featured in jazz, "PAST PRESENT FUTURE" features tangos, boleros, rumbas, mambo and cumbia plus some jazz vocal ballads - including "Almost Blue," written by Elvis Costello. The remainder of the tunes are written by bassist / bandleader / vocalist Kurt Ribak.

Kurt's tunes have been compared to Lee Morgan, Charles Mingus, and early Crusaders. His bass playing has been described as influenced by Ray Brown, Paul Chambers, Charles Mingus, and Charlie Haden. His vocals have been compared to Chet Baker, Bob Dorough, and Mel Torme.
